Throughout his 25+ year career, Michael has held positions as an information systems auditor with varying seniority levels at two global professional services firms – Big Four Ernst & Young and multinational Crowe Chizek (now Crowe). His extensive insurance industry experience comes from working at publicly traded and privately held property and casualty insurance companies as a senior audit consultant, portfolio underwriter, data specialist, and learning and development specialist.
Michael is highly capable of conducting internal audit procedures in coordination with company-wide Sarbanes-Oxley compliance programs, including documenting and testing financially significant accounts and related Information Technology General Controls (ITGC) and Application Controls (AC). His expertise in identifying key information technology and financial controls within complex frameworks results in delivering focused, understandable, and actionable recommendations for improvement.
With a strong ability to design, develop, and implement business applications, governance guidelines, and analysis techniques, Michael consistently provides management with the ability to generate timely and accurate data for informed decision-making. His extensive SQL experience allows him to adapt to various data analysis tools to provide insightful data analytics. What was your first job?
My first job was serving as a page to the Virginia House of Delegates during the 1986 regular legislative session.
Is there a cause you care about and support?
Yes, I support causes addressing hunger and food insecurity. I enjoy volunteering at the Manna Cafe, Faith Mission on 8th Ave, and Mid-Ohio Food Bank.
What is one of your proudest accomplishments?
In 2016, I received the inaugural Jay Yano Community Service Award from the State Auto Foundation.
