About Dana

An accomplished CPA with 25+ years of accounting, auditing, financial reporting, project management, compliance and process improvement experience, Dana capably serves for-profit businesses and nonprofit organizations of all sizes and excels as an outsourced or interim controller. With a diverse background, she demonstrates strong analytical skills and is proficient at helping clients quickly identify issues and improve their accounting operations.

Dana began her career with the Big Four firm Deloitte & Touche (now Deloitte), where she planned, coordinated and completed audit engagements and managed a cohesive and motivated team. She enhanced her compliance and financial reporting skills in the banking industry before moving to a closely held manufacturing and distribution company, holding positions as a senior project manager and internal audit manager.

In these positions, she partnered with senior management to review the company’s infrastructure, controls and procedures to access risk and develop audit plans to improve compliance, accuracy and productivity. Dana also identified substantial cost savings to streamline operations and increase profitability while leading organizational projects to analyze, design and execute sales initiatives. As a small-business entrepreneur, she understands solutions to overcome the challenges of owning and operating a company.

Dana successfully manages the month-and-year-end close process by working with internal and external professionals, including overseeing bookkeepers, for on-task and on-time financial statement preparation and reporting. She is skilled in helping to ensure business results are accurately captured by assessing, recommending and implementing internal controls over financial processes. Well-versed in audit preparation, budgeting, cash flow projections, recommending accounting software and establishing accounting systems, Dana regularly provides stakeholders with key performance indicators, insightful analysis and relevant observations to improve their decision-making.

Respected for her comprehensive knowledge and commitment to achieving project goals and objectives, clients value Dana's initiative, leadership and unique perspective as she serves as a trusted advisor to their organization.

On a Lighter Note

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy teaching fitness classes and encouraging women to live their best lives. I have taught Zumba for ten years, and I also teach circuit, weight, and HIIT classes. Additionally, I am a personal trainer who enjoys helping clients improve their overall health. We are a fitness family, and we do a lot of fun activities together. Somehow, one of the women convinced me to do the Warrior Dash, and over twenty other women of all ages and fitness levels joined in the fun!

Do you have any pets?
I am afraid of dogs, yet we have a 110-pound, long-haired black German Shepard named Gideon!

Is there a favorite dish you make that is always requested?
I love to bake, and my SOFT biscotti recipe is always a crowd-pleaser. I can’t keep my kids out of my cookies! I also make homemade gnocchi. It is an Italian tradition, and I grew up watching my mother make them.
